Guest lformaggia
Bug has been (partially)solved thanks to the bugzilla team. It is the ipw2200 kernel module that hangs when no wireless device is present. If you do not use the wireless you might just set "alias ipw2200 off" in /etc/modprobe.conf and you are done. If not install the full dkms package + kernel sources and install the new module available in http://plf.zarb.org/~bgmilne/dkms/ipw2200-...1mdk.noarch.rpm you do not need to recompile the kernel. The installation procedure for the new ipw2200 will take care of do all what is needed, the kernel sources are needed (i assume) only to get from them the necessary info about your kernel and prepare a new .configure file. Enjoy your laptop!
