I dont know what happened. I am using Mandrake 9 and i just installed it days ago. It was running pretty good. Now, today all of a sudden it is really slow. Does anyone know what a probable cause of this is? also, i stopped using DHCP and havent been able to get DNS outside my router since then, so i am in windows right now. I dont know if the network would have done anything with slowing it down, but it occured at about the same time. actually, it the network was working fine when i first turned off dhcp, but after i restarted it didnt work and that is also when it started going really slow.

I used to have issues w/my system being slow and I couldn't get and IP address through DHCP-how did you configure your networking when you turned off the DHCP?

when i turned off dhcp i just gave my computer an ip address and the address of the gateway and DNS server. It worked until I rebooted, then it stopped working. I could still ping ips in my network, but thats it.
