Peppercorn
Hi, I have been a happy user of Gkrellm for ages now but I now want to do something that Gkrellm via Krellkam just cannot do. that is, I want to find a program that can live stream from a webcam on the net that streams in real time using the .wmv format. Is there a program out there that can do that straight to my desktop?? I have just started using Superkaramba but so far I cannot find that particular feature in it. Any ideas??? Thanks for any help
devries
Wmv is a proprietary format. You won't find an open source progrem that can do that. And since MS doesn't do Linux you won't get anything from them
Peppercorn
Thanks Devries. What about Superkaramba being able to download .jpg or png files fom the net a la Gkrellkam??? Is that possible? And if so is there a good site where you could point me to learn how to it?? Thanks for your time.
devries
That's possible. Liquid weather uses it: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=6384 to get weather maps. However I know nothing about coding so I can't help you with that. Best thing to do is to look in the Liquid weather code and see what it does. Have fun. Thanks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Generally you cant do this in KDE or gnome. Also mplayer can only read wmv, not write.
