Yet another problem to add on to this pile of fun that we call the ATi module generator!

ATI module generator V 2.0

==================

initializing. . .

Error:

kernel includes at /usr/src/linux/include do not match current kernel

they are versioned as ""

instead of "2.6.8.1-12mdk".

you might need to adjust your symlinks:

- /usr/include

- /usr/src/linux

I honestly have no clue as to what to do here, and I don't think this topic has been covered. Then again, I'm rather new to Linux so there may be something I've overlooked. A friend of mine looked at it and was like, "yeah, that's actually versioned..." so something is screwed up here. Heh.

Thanks in advance. It's no fun not even being able to get into X just because I tried to make installing these drivers my first 'adventure'. Heh.

Hi Kegwen. Welcome to the forum. :mr-green:

2.6.8.1-12mdk is the kernel source package you have installed. If you have installed the latest kernel from the Updates, I believe it is 2.6.8.1-24mdk.

Your running kernel and the kernel source package must match version numbers.

Aha. Looks like I don't have the latest kernel installed from the updates. I'm running 2.6.8.1-12mdk and everything that I'm trying to make this from is probably designed for the latest kernel. Good job, me.

Thanks. :)

Hey Everyone.

I've read through this topic and must say it has helped me out a bit. I have an ATI 9250 PCI card that I'm trying to get TV out working on. I get the dual display working using the Clone option but all the video I play shows as a black box on the TV while showing up normally on the monitor - similar to the problem in Windows if you don't have the TV as the primary monitor.

I have tried to make the TV primary when running fglrxconfig.

Has anybody successfully got the TV out working properly in Mandrake 10?

:wall::cheeky::wall:

I'm trying to install the ATI drivers on Mandrake64. I Downloaded the rpm and followed the instructions from Tymestream but when I run fglrxinfo I still get:

display: :0.0 screen: 0

OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org

OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect

OpenGL version string: 1.3 Mesa 4.0.4

I have tried uninstalling all of the Mesa packages that I could find using rpm -e <Mesapackagename> but even though they are removed, Mesa is still used as my default OpenGL for some reason. I don't get any error messages and have done your last step of

cd /etc/X11/

touch XF86Config

cat XF86Config-4 > XF86Config

and have even tried

# cd /etc/X11

# ln -s xorg.conf XF86Config

Would you have any ideas? Any help would be SOOOOOOOOOO appreciated. I've been banging my head on this thing for 3 days now. wall.gif Thanks a lot.

I have also Configured it XFDrake and configured the Driver to be "Radeon (fglrx)" restarted X countless times but fglrxinfo STILL says MESA!!!!!! HELP! :furious3:

The Ati install is default for XFree86 not Xorg. Of course Mandrake uses Xorg -  so the final configuration file that is going to be read defaults to XFree86Config-4. There are a number of ways around this you can choose whichever way you want - here is what I did.

cd /etc/X11/

touch XF86Config

cat XF86Config-4 > XF86Config

This creates a file called XF86Config and then copies the contents from the ATI default config file into it.

Does this problem occur if I use fglrx_6_8_0-8.10.19-1.i386.rpm?

I'm experiencing the same problem, but I'm using a Mandrake community 10.1

So wich one of these drivers should I install using Tymestream's guide..?

XFree86 4.1 Version: 8.10.19

XFree86 4.2 Version: 8.10.19

XFree86 4.3 Version: 8.10.19

X.Org 6.8 Version: 8.10.19

I'm using Radeon 9800 Series and Mandrake 10.1

Thanks!

Welcome to the board.

At the time of Tymestream's post, there was no X.org version only the xfree versions. So as your using MDK 10.1 you should now use the X.Org 6.8 Version: 8.10.19
