Guest iceman101 Posted October 18, 2004 Report Share Posted October 18, 2004 i want to learn linux and someone suggested that i use mandrake, i found an old desktop which i would like to use, i just want to make sure that the system specs are good enough to run it. specs: AMD K6-2 350mhz processor 64 megs SDRam 512 kb L2 pipeline cache 8 gig hardrive 4 mb sync graphics memory ATI rage pro turbo 2x agp graphics will this run mandrake and how well. would getting more ram help? thanks alot. Ixthusdan Posted October 19, 2004 Report Share Posted October 19, 2004 Yes, get more ram. Mandrake will run, but with a gui (Graphic User Interface) it gets a little testy. n00blar Posted October 20, 2004 Report Share Posted October 20, 2004 I would really suggest adding more RAM and maybe a bigger hard drive. 8 Gigs will be good for a very basic system; I don't know if you'll be able to load any 'big' third party applications from your installation CDs.
