Hey,

after spending hours of looking, does anyone here know how to install vmware on mandrake 10.1 CE?

after installing the rpm, I run vmware-config.pl, first time it asked me for the compiler, so installed that, now it is asking:

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running

kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]

what are these headers, where can I find them, how do I use em?: HOW DO I CONTINUE MY INSTALLATION?

Greets

Maarten

know what's weird...

I've done 3 kernel updates and each time vmware says that I need to compile my own kernel because the kernel source is not equal my running kernel

the last which worked for me was some 2.6.3-2 I think

p.s. all kernel updates and source downloads done through urpmi

Hi, have you tried vmware-any-any-update83. I had sim probs, then d/l'ed this from VMware & all was well...

oh, YES, thank you, thank you, thank you :D :D

it works now

I had no idea of this patch existing

thanx!!

p.s. although for some strange reason

[user@localhost vmware-any-any-update84]$ vmware

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server

Xlib: No protocol specified

Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0

but it works with root, so all is good

I think it has to do smthing with me messing with XF86Config-4 to get my radeon drivers working
