Some tips to make it run smoother:

http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/Doom3/FPSVisuals.htm

From a comment at LinuxGames.com:

"Make a text file called autoexec.cfg in your Doom3 'Base' directory and add:

image_useCache - set to 1

image_cacheMegs - 1/3 -14th system ram

image_cacheMinK - minimum cache in K not Meg 2048

com_videoram - make sure this value is the ammount of video ram your card has

it won't add FPS, but it will be noticeably smoother.

the other commands on that site can help, but don't go overboard otherwise you'll lose some playing experience."

Thanks for the tips, I got it installed last night. I'd say it runs just as good or

better than on Win2000. I can run it on higher settings on linux which is cool.

I also noticed on gkellm that I am using 470mb of RAM while running Doom3

with kde 3.2. Is this typical for anyone else? Anyways, its cool that I can now

run UT2004 and doom in linux. Now If I could just get my CAD programs for

linux I'd be set. Maybe even dump windows ;-)!
