humaneasy
Hi, If all below 10.1 use XFree86 and now 10.1 will use XOrg how can we upgrade the desktop? Does 10.1 remove XFree86 and replace it by XOrg OR do we have to uninstall XFree86 after 10.1 upgrade? Thanks for you help. 1, B) Lopo Edited September 30, 2004 by humaneasy
Artificial Intelligence
The Xfree will not be removed, Xorg will be added. Check if Xorg.conf have the same in it as your Xfree. Then add ~ in the back of xfree. (the xfree config file that is) That should do it. But I recommend (as other would so, I believe) to make a clean install with 10.1 community(rc2). frosterrj
Yes, I have to agree. Having tried it, the FTP upgrade path will upgrade MOST of the distribution, but it left me without an X server, so no graphical desktop. Much easer to do a fresh install, unless you are expert at troubleshooting the relevant config files and making changes by hand.
