Network installation

I have a problem installing network on my laptop. I have pcmcia network adapter (realtec). Mandrake finds it, i get my network settings from dhcp server. Installations goes well but cant start network - failes. Where to start, what to do? I heared that there will be some trouble if computer have IEEE port - well I have.

hi :)

 

have you checked if your network adapter is started at system boot? open a console (the black monitor button) and type "su", then enter the root password, then type "ifup eth0". you will see a message if the connection was already established. if not, an ip-number will be assigned. now run "ifconfig eth0". what is the output of that file?

also: have you filled all relevant data for your net-access? (lan/cable/dsl/...)
