I hope they contribute it back to upstream... Anything to make Gnome better is welcome, and if they have to fork it (that GoneMe thing perhaps) then I may have to reevaluate...

 

Anyhow, yeah, just make a .hidden file on your desktop, then put in it all the names of the icons you wanna hide. That should do it.

That makes sense to me now.

 

Reading Dolson's advice I created an empty file (touch .hidden) and typed the names of the icons in it. It sounded kinda stupid but .... anyway ... :mr-green:

Ok this is weird. 'floppy' doesn't wanna go inside .hidden.

I think I suggested that through email already a month ago. It's in the gnome-control-center>Removable Storage. I think I do recall seeing something about 'volume' though. It's not in gconf-editor in ubuntu so I'll have to boot to mandrake and see.

bvc: Is that window border svg/pixmap or is it a re-colourable one like simple or industrial?

 

would make a damn nice recolourable window border, if you send it, I might try making it one.
