Hi all, :help:

I am having problems with my configuration of Mandrake 9.2. I am at present diving into the deepend and moving in one go from windows to linux, and I seem to be having problems with one aspect so far and that is with my sound cards! I have 2, one on board and the other a creative PCI soundcard.

At present mandrake is persistant in selecting the on board sound device as the sound card of choice, however I would prefer to use my creative card. Both are visiable and both have the correct drivers attached to them, however I can't get mandrake to use the creative card. Even when i disable the on board card in the BIOS mandrake still thinks that it exisits!

Please help... my head is hurting from me banging it on my desk so many times!! :wall:

Thanks in advance,

welcome aboard. :D

log in as root. in your /etc/modules.conf and /etc/modprobe.conf files, you should comment out the cards that you do not want to use (simply put a '#' at the beginning of the relevant lines) and leave only the one you need. Make sure the one you want to use is set up correctly (thus being the first used).
