Guest csanchisb Posted September 6, 2004 Report Share Posted September 6, 2004 I have just installed MDK 10.0 Official and I've been suprised by the fact thta there are two strange options in lilo: 263-7 (/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.3-7mdk) 2425-2 (/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.25-2mdk) So I open the Mandrake Control Center and go to the section where you can remove software [if I say it in such a way it's because I'm spanish-spoken and I don't know the exac English title fo that section] and find out I have two kernels installed, that is: kernel-2.4.25.2mdk-1-1mdk and kernel-2.6.3.7mdk-1-1mdk The default (the the only one I've used so far) option in lilo is /boot/vmlinuz, wich is a symbolic link to vmlinuz-2.6.3-7mdk, the one corresponding to the new kernel. So, is that normal? [it didn't use to happen in previous versions I installed] Is it useful for anything? ShouldI remove old 2.4? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest drakeeula Posted September 7, 2004 Report Share Posted September 7, 2004 263-7 (/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.3-7mdk) Hi, I believe it will happen with an upgrade install....i had even more options in the boot menu when i upgraded from mdk 9.1 to 10.0 Later, i backed up all my stuff and did a fresh install.
