devries
Try starting it from a console (by typing etmain i think (else type et and then hit <tab>. ). If you get any errors you can google for a solution or post them here. My guess would be that 3d accelarations isn't working. You have a nvidia card? Have you installed the nvidia drivers? Good luck
Jayclark
Yea, I installed the Nvidia drivers. I have a Geforce Mx 440. devries
In the Module section, make sure you have: Load "glx" Put that in your /etc/XF86Config-
Jayclark
it is already in. I followed the faq from here to install the drivers. And it was already under the Module.
devries
Load "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so" Try that instead of "GLX" (and check if you have a libglx.so) Good luck
Jayclark
try to load it that way and this is what it said Segmentation fault How do I check to see if I have libglx.so? Sorry but I'm a total newb at Linux. :P
jlc
Do you have an nvidia card? If so, did you change "nv" to "nvidia" after you installed the nvidia drivers? To find files on your system, do the following as root or sudo users. # updatedb (this will take a few minutes) # slocate libglx.so That will show you were/if you have the file. Did you use Nvidia rpms or the .run file from nividia? Nvidia Driver If you want to start over, do the following. # su - # wget http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x...0-6111-pkg1.run # init 3 Log back in as root, you should have the nvidia.run in your /root dir # sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg1.run # modprobe nvidia Change your XF86config-4 to show "nvidia" instead of "nv" # init 5 Once you log on as your user, open a term and test "glxgears"
Jayclark
Yep I'm sure I got an Nvidia card. I changed nv to nvidia also. I checked for the file and this is where its located /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so.1.0.6111 /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so I used to .run file for the driver. If no one knows how to fix it I will try again. Uninstall the current drivers first right?
jlc
nah, just follow those steps. Although I can't remember if mdk uses init 5 for gui or not. If you see more /etc/inittab "id:5:initdefault:" ^^ that line ^^^ THen just follow the steps I put up there and it should work fine.
