I'm not sure if this is off limits to discussion, but I have yet to find a "good" P2P application for Linux. The best I've found thus far is aMule, but it still searches a crappy network, and doesn't have just a whole lot of options. I'd like to be able to search the FastTrack (Kazaa) network, but I've had nothing but hell with giFT.

Is there another network as fast as FastTrack? If so, which one is it and which client searches it?

I taste very of the Bittorrent and to twirl the Kazza saw Wine :P

bittorrent is great when you got a source. I was using azureus but now I use the command line version becaue I can control my torrents over SSH.

When you want something but don't know where to get it, the other P2P can help. I use gtk-gnutella, but I used Limewire for a while (as long asyou have java installed properly, it should be a cinch to install it).

There seems to be a lot of noise/spamming on the Gnutella network though, for example search for "Unreal Tournament 2004 Admin Guide" ( a perfectly legit free download) and you start getting "hits" for UnrealTournament2004AdminGuide.exe, UnrealTournament2004AdminGuide.jpg, UnrealTournament2004AdminGuide.mpg, Unreal_Tournament_2004_Admin_Guide.exe, Unreal_Tournament_2004_Admin_Guide.jpg etc... each file like 1.2G in size whereas the actual document is only a few hunderd Ks.

It doesn't always happen, I think it depends which peers you connect to.

Also note that those solutions (bittorrent included) do not offer any cloaking of your IP address, so if you download aor share cpyrighted material, be ready for the consequences.
