problem customizing firefox

I am running Mandrake 10 with firefox 0.9.3. I have been playing with the userchrome.css file to perform some customizations.

I am able to change the color of the progress bar in the lower right-hand corner without trouble. However, if I try to change the color of the drop-down menus, it seems firefox ignores my request and stays with the default color.

When I use the same userchrome.css file on a W2K box with Mozilla, it works fine. Any suggestions?

Well after much effort I have simply given up and installed the Plastik theme.

I am not sure if the problem is with KDE or firefox, but I simply could not change the color of the drop down menus or the mouseover on these menus. I again have no problem changing this color on a W2K box with mozilla.

Anyway, the Plastik theme looks nice with KDE and I am happy.
