Guest tolne57
I was able to set Firefox as the default browser by changing the .html file association. I was also able to make it so firefox doesn't startup the profile manager if another instance of firefox is running by changng the startup script to the script referenced here: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=177996#c91 However, my problem is whenever I click a link from an application, Firefox opens, but the URL is pointed to the what I think is the cache location. For example, when I click on a link to google, I get this in the url bar: file:///var/tmp/kdecache-jason/krun/14389.0. google comes up, but the referenced images etc are broken. I'm using mdk 10, kde 3.2 and firefox .9.3 Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Edited August 31, 2004 by tolne57
devries
In the kde control center, file association, html, on the tab 'inbedded' choose 'open with external application' (disclaimer: translated from dutch so actual wording might be different)
Guest tolne57
Hmm, it didn't seem to work for me. I clicked the Embedding tab and the choices are Show file in embedded viewer, Show file in separate viewer and use settings for 'text' group. I tried all three but none of them worked. I must be doing something wrong.

Guest tolne57
I think I found the solution. I had to add %u to the .html file association command text. For example /path to firefox/firefox %u
Ed the N00B
Well done! Hope it works for me too. Will try it out when I get home later. Been having the exact same problem since I first tried to make Firefox the default browser!
