Sound card works...I guess??

I tried Kmix last night, but I couldn't find anything that was muted. I also couldn't find any settings for front and rear setup. I tried installing alsamixer gui and here's what happened...it asked me to insert disc 2 so I did. It installed some stuff and then asked for disc 4, so I put that one in. After examining disc four, it said "this package contains bad signatures. Do you wish to install anyway?" I chose no because I didn't know what would happen if I had installed it. What should I try now? I've got an awesome multimedia speaker setup and want to enjoy it on Linux.

Yes, I looked under advanced, but it didn't give me many more options, and none of them dealt with speaker setup. I'll try the alsamixer setup again tonight. Just for future reference, what does it mean when a package has bad signatures?

Ok, I've tried Kmix and Alsamixer. I've made sure every channel is unmuted and turned up the 3D channels all the way. Still, sound only comes from the front two speakers. I also noticed that if I turn the bass up, it does not come through the subwoofer. Instead, it tries to force it to the front speakers, causing distortion. Does anyone have a Soundblaster Audigy card with a 4.1 or 5.1 speaker setup? If so, how do you get sound through all your speakers? I am perplexed by this mystery. :juggle:
