liquidzoo
try going to codeweavers ( http://wine.codeweavers.com ) and sownloading the latest rpm of wine. Install that as root and see if it works for you. The last time I had wine working on my machine, I was also running Win2K, so I don't think it's that. aze
Well I installed wine from the rpm (http://wine.codeweavers.com) It installed ok but when I try wine c:winntnotepad.exe it returns: Warning: The Wine launcher is unable to find the xmessage program, which it needs to properly notify you of Wine execution status or problems. This launcher script relies heavily on finding this tool, and without it, it will behave very poorly. We strongly recommend that you use your distribution's software methods to locate xmessage, or alternatively use your favourite internet search engine to find out how you are supposed to install xmessage on your system. Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.
ramfree17
use urpmf to find the package containing xmessage (if its not libwine) or use rpmfind.net (which is unaccessible at the moment from where i am). *i read somewhere that urpmf also uses rpmfind.net or something but im not sure and i dont have a linux system to test on. ciao! ramfree17
install X11R6-contrib. its the only one returned by rpmfind.net when the Mandrake is specified in the system textbox. besides the other option in your list would be the one in the japanese manpages. ciao! Guest mandrake123
After codeweavers wine is installed via the rpm file you download, you have to login as a normal user and run the command 'winesetup' then follow the screen instructions. The setup will create a directory: /home/youruser/.wine This directory will be hidden. After that you can run apps using wine by simply double clicking an exe file. I have succesfully installed kaza Lite 2.0, Office 2000, Cdex ripper, and Trillian chat. Note: If you want to run wine as root, you have to copy the /home/youruser/.wine directory to the /root directory
aze
Hi! I tried to run kazaa but it says some dlls is missing. :(
Guest mandrake123
Go to frankscorner.org and click on the Kazaa link and follow the instruction there. It will tell you exactly which dll files you need and also how to edit your wineconf file (easier than it sounds). remember wine works best in windows 98 mode using windows 98 dll's. Guest mandrake123
Oh, i forgot, make sure you are running kaZaa lite 2.0.0 beta1. there is a beta 2 that comes in 2 folders called first stage and second stage install , that is the wrong one. get the one that is a single executable installer file.
