linux_learner
i have read threads, about how that in order to get your web based mail, you need hotwayd, mr postman or such. i thought wait a minute, there has to be another way. the good news is, there is. it is possible to get your hotmail with out hotwayd or mr postman. all you need is the servers. POP3: pop3hot.com SMTP: mx01.hotmail.com this is not intended as a howto. you can use either pop settings or imap. i have tested this out on evolution and thunderbird. thunderbird wont let me do two hotmail accounts (not sure why). i havent tried two accounts in evolution yet. LiquidZoo did this in kmail, so i know it works in kmail as well. (if you need help setting this up, just ask)
phunni
It works in sylpheed-claws (and presumably sylpheed) as well. You have to make sure you use your email address as your username.

Guest Jayceess
With Yahoo, you have to pay money for pop access. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know about paying money but I have been using this technique on my Yahoo mail account since this year on Evolution and I have just used the info to configure my hotmail account also. :D Thanks guys
phunni
you may have to pay money for the hotmail as well. I got an email about my trial coming to an end from the same people that provided my error messages on my first (failed) attempt to get this working. I suspect that you may have to pay if you want to do this longer term - anyone able to confirm or deny?
spiedra
I suspect it will be the same with hotmail, but now with Google getting in the email market, if they keep their pop mail service free, I would think MSN and Yahoo will also drop their fees. SpikeyKlitske
thunderbird wont let me do two hotmail accounts (not sure why). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I noticed that even in outlook (pew) you cannot enter two hotmail accounts so i suspect its a m$ thing
devries
http://pop3hot.com/ It's actually this company that provides the service. It has nothing to do with hotmail. You give your userdata to this company and it uses it to get the mail from hotmail and passes it on to you. If you don't mind having your mail read by this company go ahead. If your care about privacy you should be aware. Have fun.
Guest justin_p
I use fusemail.com. It does a great job of consolidating all your accounts. It has imap and smtp access, as well as webmail. $20/years gets you 350mb of storage. Worth a look.

Guest duncangareth
With Yahoo, you have to pay money for pop access. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is not true. I don't pay for my Yahoo mailbox which gives me pop/smtp access and a 100MB mailbox and the ability to send 10MB of attachments per message.(Which is quite enough for my needs.) devries
I guess they just download the wegpages with the email and then 'parse' the mail from it and place it in their own pop3 mail accounts. I doubt they have an agreement with MS since hotmail provides pop3 only against a fee.
arthurking
Some rubbish service from Izymail or some crap company that will sell your email address to the lowest bidders :deal: so you can download more spam, so you'll be obliged to "buy" their anti spam service ............. No thanks MrPostman works perfectly for me using all email clients etc, (shameless plug ) when Microsoft doesn't change some protocol, to annihalate any anticompetitive practice by any free-ware software upstart, that tries to threaten its world dominance............. Ok, I'll shut it ! I don't need to give out my details and address books to something/someone, when I can do it privately/free, on my own terms.
