BBX Mercury

Hi all,

I'm porting this theme to Gnome and after diving into it, I'd like some input. There's 2 versions of button and 3 or 4 versions of menus.

All 3 of the following links show the menu;

dark_background/light highlight color

http://www.maxthemes.com/themes/?theme=BBX%20Mercury%20X

http://www.skinplant.com/library.cfm?lib=1&skinid=240

There is however a;

light_background/dark_glassy highlight image.

I prefer this one. Yeah, I know you can't see it. I'll post a screenie tonight. I prefer the light background;

1. the highlight is an image as oppsed to a color

2. light background is the same as the main/application color and of course blend better.

Don't post and say "I don't like dark themes", because I didn't ask :P

Thanks for the input!

One thing about the dark_bg/light highlight color menu is the light color on the left and right, if can be done, will be extremely difficult to do because of how gtk wants small images to tile. This is where my lack of experience comes in. I can'r recall ever seeing a gtk the used a large image and expanded as needed w/o tiling. Have you? Anyone?

So far, I've been using the 2 windows versions, but will get stuffit and download the mac version tonight and see what I can use from Max's.

I agree, i like the design of the first screen shot (mac osx theme one), try to stick to the design of that one.

Also, with the metacity theme i like the light boarders more.

Thank you so much! I've so wanted this theme.

k, well after I get the gtk sorted, I'll redo the buttons on the metacity, and we'll have 2 versions of buttons :D

I'll post screenies of the menus as I work them.

The app/sys/panel buttons are done and look sweet!!! (the round bubble ones)... though somethng weird happens in their trans states (in the panel), but I think I know why.

hey, do you think you could also make "flat" metacity theme to go with this? a theme that kinda blends in with the gtk window like theyhave for the milk and alumminum alloey theme ports.

like that? Look at the window not the bar. Yeah, I was actually thinking the same thing, since I will be doing the other set of buttons.

That'll give use a default mac-metacity and an alternate win-metacity. I'm still not putting the buttons on the left by default though. Ppl can move those themselves.

In that screenie, the tabs are angled, but the images are not. I don't know if I'm gonna mess with that :unsure: How in the heck do I do that with the gimp? :unsure:
