but i would have loved  :woops:  another option, one saying: several smaller desktop environments.

I saw this option called "Other"....which you could have chosen, then explained this....

Fluxbox is my main WM. I've been playing with XFce, but still love Flux.

I'm interested to know: how is flux better than xfwm? I could never get flux to look anywhere near decent and xfwm has very intuitive and featureful support. (Is that a word?)

Man, you're good with desktop screenshots and all, bvc. It's really nice and it could properly get a kde fan to switch to gnome :D

Ever thought about making some kde stuff?

KDE

I'd tried linux a few times but not got on with it, then I found KDE and was hooked, haven't used any other desktop since. been with linux now for about 4 years and totally MS free for the last 2.5 years.

I've had a few ppl contact me and say they switched to gnome after giving it a try, after seeing my screenies. Thx!

No, not really, I haven't had kde installed since ML-10-beta1, and it was just to check out kde-3.2, which was very nice, btw. My wife used it for a while, til I installed fc2, and it's been gnome only every since. :headbang:

GNOME on my htpc box - spatial nautilus is a godsend with low resolution when all you really want to do is load videos. xfce on my poor old steam-powered laptop.
