Hi users of Mandrake. I just want to share some information on the steps to add some new boot themes in the;

Mandrake Control Center / Boot/ Boot Themes

If you don't have any boot theme, you can go Here

and download any source rpm from the mirror of your predilection. You need root priviledges to install the RPM. Ones you finish installing the tar.bz2 file go to this directory;

/usr/src/RPM/SOURCES/Bootsplash-themes-2.0.0/

This is where all the boot themes are going to be located.

Now we're going to accomodate the files in there respected locations:

1) Login as a root and open konqueror or the file manager of your predilection.

2) Select the themes you want to include in MDK Control Center

3) Copy them in this directory;

/usr/share/bootsplash/themes/

4) Go to all the themes folders you just add and erase the folder "config"

5) Now, ones again copy all the themes you selected previously in this directory;

/etc/bootsplash/themes/

6) Go to all the themes folders you just add and erase the folder "images" and "lilo"

Now when you go to MDK Control Center / Boot / Boot Themes, you are going to see a drop down window with the name of all the themes you add previously. Just select one and Mandrake will do the rest for you. Enjoy...

I'm changing the topic to reflect this tip correctly. This is not KDE specific, and doesn't even depend on KDE. These are simply boot themes.

Another thing I found today, not sure if this is a cooker thing or not, though:

Add a contrib and plf urpmi source. Open a console, su to root and type:

urpmi bootsplash-plf bootsplash-themes bootsplashchooser

Once those are installed, go to MCC > Boot > Boot Themes. You will now have a list of boot themes to choose from!
