maxgravitt
I am trying to install software (specifically, arson) by using urpmi and it is prompting me to enter disk 4. I downloaded and burned disk 1-3, but not disk 4. Is there a way I configure urpmi to pick up the needed files from the web instead of from disk 4? thanks! Andrewski
Yes. I'm not sure about that specific package, but visit http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon/urpmiweb.php and set it up accordingly. Then, you can use "urpmi -y" to search for arson and other packages. If they're available, they'll be downloaded; if not, you can possibly find them on http://rpm.pbone.net. I'm with you on the lack of disc 4; though I used the download edition, I've not had any subsequent problems once I pointed urpmi to online mirrors. Hope this helps! :) (Welcome to Linux and Mandrake! )
maxgravitt
I configured urpmi as the website explained, but it still prompts to enter disk 4 for some software (e.g. "vcdimager"). urpmi can find arson OK and it presents the list of dependencies. However, I guess the dependencies (or arson itself) is on disk 4. thanks!

This was added to "entice" users and is part of the Power Pack.
Jet2k5
If your running KDE do this K>System>Configuration>Packing>Software Media Manager. And as said above make sure that the CD 4 does not have a check, then hit ok and next time you are doing what you where it should not ask you for it. -Luis
maxgravitt
Perfect! I was unfamiliar with the Software Media Manager. It now downloads the packages instead of looking for disk 4. I wish this would have been the default. thanks! :D
