Guest linux learner
Hi. I'd like to install my intel v92 ham data fax voice modem in linux. I followed the 3 steps indicated by the readme file. ( make clean, make ham, make install ) but the third one has a problem. It says: "rm: cannot remove '/dev/ham' : operation not permitted." can any body tell me what's wronge? looking forward to your help: linux learner. DragonMage
You did su to root before you typed make install, did you? So the commands would be make clean make ham su <your root password> make install Edited July 9, 2004 by DragonMage
Guest linux learner
thanks for your help but, I logged in as root at first, before make clean. so typing su before make install does not work. I think sth else must be wrong. any other idea you have?
DragonMage
Since the error message says "rm: cannot remove '/dev/ham' : operation not permitted." The only thing left is permission problem. Is there such a thing as /dev/ham and what is the permission? It's weird that it is trying to remove /dev/ham while it is supposed to be installing.
