Using Mandrake 10 and messing about with different things i have managed to lose my desktop.The last time i took the easy option and re installed but now i have things or did have things set up i don't want to do that again When i boot into Linux it goes into the cli and asks for name and password.I need to know if i can put a command in here to bring up my normal desktop and then if someone could tell me what i altered and how to put it back I know before anyone comments READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE ACTION but please help Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

With at least nvidia, the /etc/modprobe.conf is modified incorrectly to take; alias char-major-195* nvidia out. Check that your video cards module line still exist and/or replace if necessary. eroica Posted June 27, 2004 Report Share Posted June 27, 2004 i'm no guru but have u tried putting in your usernm & password @ prompt? and if u succesfully login at the prompt issue command "startx" w/o the parenthesis. if all u did was somehow disable your autologin this should work....
