I've got Mandrake 9.1, so the setup may be different, but if I go into Mandrake Control Centre - Hardware - Printerdrake and double click on the printer name, I get the options to modify the settings. I can select an option that includes 'driver' and then press 'Do it'.

If you can do this, you should be able to select different drivers and see what results you get - but if it goes wrong, I may not be able to help you... :P

No, Mandrake has the correct driver.

Put this into your web browser.

localhost:631/admin

Login with username "root" and your root password.

Then try removing the printer there, under Manage Printers, then delete printer.

After removing it, follow these instructions here.

http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/install.php#mandrake

Should they fail. Remove the printer and follow these instructions

http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/install.php#mandrake
