If you've burned the ISO correctly it should be bootable, ensure you change your boot order in the BIOS.

Do you want to keep your Mandrake installation or just the home partition? Do you have /home on a seperate partition, or just part of the root partition?

I didn´t burned the ISO already, I just mounted the image, I will check the md5sum adn burn the image using Nero tools, I ask this because when I download the Mandrake ISOs I was able to boot the image using Daemon Tools.

Thanks for the advice.

oh and one more noob question: do I have to remove mandrake manually before installing fedora or can I use the partition tools to format everything besides my home partition?

use the partition tools to format everything besides your home partition. Just rename the user dirs.

Can you please explain in SIMPLE terms just what you mean by rename the user dirs? Do you mean rename /home/bert/ to /home/bill/ ? If so, then what? Create user bill during install? or do you mean create user bert and then copy over everything from /home/bill? I know I'm being thick about this. Please forgive my stupidity and bear with me. I'm keen to install FC2 with the option of going back to Mdk10.

Roll your own DVD isos using this script. Get the latest CD isos into one directory, then run:

#mkdvdiso.sh /path/to/the/cd/isos /location/and/name/of/dvd.iso

#growisofs -Z /dev/scd0=/location/and/name/of/dvd.iso

A script for Fedora that allows you to just get the CD ISO's and re-make them as one DVD ISO... like I did. Saves on spending ages on getting the actual DVD ISO, which I always had problems with (would only get half way through..)
