Guest TheSpider
I recently moved from mandrake 10 community (rc3) to mandrake 10 official how did i do this? i formatted my root partition and then installed mandrake 10. The new version of mandrake has several problems under my computer. i am using the 2.6.3-7mdk kernel 1) Cannot change runlevels. Any attempt to change runlevels (using CTRL+ALT+F(1-7) ) causes the system to lock up completely. 2) Audio does not work. Alsa starts up just fine, and my cards are detected, but sound does not play, if i use xmms it says "Could not open audio - Please check that: Your soundcard is configured properly, you have the correct plugin selected and no other progarm is blocking the soundcard' Artsplay will seem to run (no sound though) and the VU meter goes up and down in artscontrol. I have checked that i am plugged into the right jack, and that i have the mute turned off on my actual hardware. It seems to be off in Kmix it will only allow me to choose OSS in the input plugins section. 3) Using harddrake causes mouse to stop working, and using harddrake to attempt to run the config tools on the soundcard causes harddrake to lock. 4) Plugging in my Sandisk cruzer mini flash disk (256mb) causes the mouse to stop working, and the device must be inserted at boot time if you want to mount it. 5) GKrellM will not show temperature sensors even after sensors-detect is run. sensors-detect worked fine in 10.0 community using the 2.4.25-2mdk kernel. Any ideas? [moved from Software by spinynorman]

mdg
Have you tried using a different driver for your soundcard? What kind of card do you have? Installing lm_sensors with a 2.6 kernel is a bit different from the 2.4 kernel. There is a lot of information on their website Here's a few things to check if the sensors are not working (from the lm_sensors site): # Did sensors-detect find sensors? # Did you do what sensors-detect said? # Did you modprobe your sensor modules? # Did you modprobe your I2C adapter modules? # Did you modprobe i2c-isa if you have ISA sensor chips? # Check lsmod.
