My Acer TM 8000 halts at boot time if i set the boot parameters acpi=on.

acpi=ht seems to work.

1. How do I verify that ACPI is working properly on MDK 10.0?

2. I am guessing that I will have to recompile my kernel...

:wall:

What are the settings for a successful ACPI configuration?

3. What is the setting for the default kernel that was installed?

Linux version 2.6.3-7mdk (nplanel@n3.mandrakesoft.com) (gcc version 3.3.2 (Mandrake Linux 10.0 3.3.2-6mdk)) #1 Wed Mar 17 15:56:42 CET 2004

Thanks!!

Here's where it hangs:

"

[...]

PCI: Using configuration type 1

mtrr: v2.0 (20020519)

ACPI: Subsystem revision 20040211

Looking for DSDT in initrd ... not found!

ACPI: IRQ9 SCI: Edge set to Level Trigger.

Might want to check if apmd is running on startup. You can check from MCC. You cannot run apm and acpi at the same time.

I'm running a TM 803Lci w/ 9.2 and working OK but I really haven't had a chance to trash it out as I have just finished an international move of 12,500 miles and things are still stacked up here. :D

I found the solution for this problem a few weeks ago.

Forgot to post the solution though...

This is a kernel 2.6 problem

Solutiopn:

Add "nolapic" to the kernel boot options

See bug http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1269

This is how my grub entry looks like:

"

title linux

kernel (hd0,4)/boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda5 devfs=mount nolapic resume=/dev/hda8 splash=silent vga=788

initrd (hd0,4)/boot/initrd.img

"

This should stop ACPI from hanging at boot time.

Does it work for you???

/m

I do have the same Problem with my Samsung P35. When I try "nolapic" it resumes but then my screen goes black. Linux seems to be running in the background though, since I can log on and reboot.

Thanks,

Chris
