10ce hangs

Hi there,

I've just installed MDk 10ce (download version) on a new pc. It boots fine, and KDE 3.2 starts up. Then about 30mins later - depending on what I'm doing, the pc locks up. I cannot switch to a console, and I cannot kill the x server with ctrl-alt-bkspace.

In /var/log/messages I see this:

May 23 08:29:59 localhost kernel: NET: Registered protocol family 10
May 23 08:29:59 localhost kernel: Disabled Privacy Extensions on device c037d620(lo)
May 23 08:29:59 localhost kernel: IPv6 over IPv4 tunneling driver
May 23 08:29:59 localhost net.agent[2195]: add event not handled

The pc is gigabyte mobo, celeron 2.4ghz, 768mb DDR 400, nVidia FX5200 128mb AGP.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Maybe a problem with nvidia? Check the forums, I think there are many nvidia problems for discussion. And I heard/read of many users having trouble with nvidia or ati-cards, freezing the box.

I have some questions.

Have you installed any new software? If yes, what was it?

Are you using the nvidia drivers? If yes, how did you install them?

Are you having any problem with sound?

Are there any other seemingly unrelated irregularities that have occurred with your machine which you could mention?

I know there are lots of forums to read, but let's try to help here! B)
