LittleJohn
Okay here is yet another dumb question from a newbie. I have cable so it doesn't matter. But if I install linux for my mom and she uses MSN for dial up service will it work in linux?

DragonMage
Probably not.. It's been a while since I've seen MSN dialup service, but don't they require you to use their own software or something ala AOL? Anyway, switch to a real ISP that don't require their own software to be installed. You can get one for as little as 10 bux a month. After that, the only problem left is to get the modem running if you have a winmodem.
linux_learner
i used to have a contract with MSN (shudders at the memories). kppp worked fine. you DO NOT need the software to make it work, even in windows. all you need are the dial up numbers your goin to connect to.
