I move from 9.2 to 10.0 on another desktop with another lan card (which semms to be very well recognized). Everything worked fine with 9.2 but now with 10.0 , during boot process eth0 initialization process answers always failed. I have a netgear router with an ADSL modem with mdk 9.2 (static IP), mdk 10.0 (static IP), 3 desktop with XP (dynamic IP with DHCP). /etc/hosts and /etc/resolv.conf seems ok for me and when I open mcc and go in the internet menu, there is type of connection: LAN but always not connected. However I can surf without any problem!

I suspect that during installation, mdk 10 has initialized another connection ? but can't manage to solve my problem.

as troot in a console (if you dont know how to do that check the FAQ)

type

ifconfig -a

You should have a ppp0 and eth0 probably has no IP add.

Just confirm this but in 9.2 eth0 probably does have.

this is the different way the wizards work in 10 to 9.2

I get the same and have to wait a long time for it to time out

I think you can get round this but I dont reboot often (once a month) so I havnt bothered to fix it....

anyone...

I had this problem when I installed MDK 10.0 OE, and it perplexed me. I searched high and low for an answer. eventually I set a hostname aside from the localhost and now it's started working fine. i'm not sure why...it's quite odd.

to set the hostname i had to edit a file and change a variable...i forget which file it was, i'll look when I get home this afternoon unless someone else points it out first.
