tyme
first, I'll give you the normal spiel. logging in as root to KDE or GNOME or any other desktop environment/window manager is -A VERY BAD IDEA- what I suggest you do is open a terminal (konsole, for example) type in su and hit enter, then enter your root password, and then type in the name of the program you want to run (not it's title, the executable name). -HOWEVER- if you really want to be able to login as root into the graphical environment, just open Mandrake Control Center go into Boot and then into Auto-Login (this is what it is in Mandrake 10.0 OE, however it should be similar for older versions) and just turn it off there. NecroScumBag
You and also go into harddrake select you video card. Hit options and tell it not to launch xfree first. reboot. This will now boot the pc to a text login screen. login as the user you want. the use the startx command to launch you gui of choice. This case KDE! Hope this helps.
