WilliamS: I am using LM sensors to monitor temps.

GKrellM.... http://web.wt.net/~billw/gkrellm/gkrellm.html

Gosh the thing loooks good. Never new there was such a thing. There is a ML10 rpm http://norlug.org/~chipster/rpm_index/cat2 Lemme see if I can get it up an running in ML10.

I did urpmi acpi acpid>reboot

there still kisn't anything in /proc/acpi

then did urpme gkrellm then urpmi gkrellm for the norlug rpm.

Still no temperatures showing :wall:

What I've noticed is that while sensors-detect can find w83627hf, when I try modprobe this happens:

[root@localhost william]# modprobe w83627hf

FATAL: Module w83627hf not found.

Could it be that this only works in 10 official?

Thanks.

Does LM sensors work on your PC?

Configured it a bit to fit my liking a bit more. Is there anyway to have it display horizontally instead?

you installed

acpi

and

acpid

rebooted

and still no /proc/acpi?

put either

acpi=ht

or

acpi=on

in your bootloader config file. I use acpi=on. ht is for acpi during boot only.

do

chkconfig --list and see if you see

acpid           0:off   1:off   2:off   3:on    4:on    5:on    6:off
acpi            0:off   1:off   2:on    3:on    4:on    5:on    6:off

oh, and no, acpi worked in CE w/ updates also.

I did chkconfig --list and it shows the same as yours.

I don't know where bootloader config file is. ?

but if it is any use, here is some of /boot/confkig-2.6.3-9mdk

Now there is a /proc/acpi with mostly empty files.

No change in gkrellm.

I'm wondering if the fatal error of modprobe 283627hf driver isn't the main problem, and haven't a clue as to what to do about it.

Could it be the kernel-2.6.3.9mdk that I'm using?

 ...... ...... :woops:

noticed a week ago that manndrake is infact running hotter than it ever has by 7C. I have an external digital temp gauge that goes straight to the cpu. It's now, and has been, reading 45.6 in mandrake-10. Previous versions of mandrake and other linux's ran at 38C no matter the services running...it makes no dfference. Xp has always and still does run at 38C. So what's up?

Running services?...

network

random

sound

keytable

portmap

devfsd

numlock

gpm

acpi

acpid

....and that's it. All 3 kernels I have installed are the same.

and look at this crap

[root@localhost root]# cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/temperature
temperature:             54 C
[root@localhost root]#

In the past that has always read 47C
