Cornellius
So, is there any important things I should know about Linux on laptops ? For example, the battery remaining power, or if I use an Intel or an AMD or a Celeron. Any things that a laptop linux user NEEDS to know ? Thanks a bunch ! mtweidmann
Because laptops use so much intergrated (and often non-standard) hardware it can make installtion a bit more time consuming, but not impossible. If you do a search on Google you'll find loads of websites giving information on how well (or badly) different brands/models work with Linux. I'd check that out before making a decision. But ending on a positive note, my laptop works perfectly with MDK10 with all the intergrated hardware working. ShadowFoxLSU
I would look into an.... APPLE laptop. OSX is a BSD like system, and everything works out of the box. If not, look into an IBM or HP laptop.
ac_dispatcher
I bought a HP ze5185 a little over a year ago. What I did was go to the store (Best Buy) found the one I wanted. Went home did a google search on it. I found two web pages on my puter. So I knew the problems I would have. Besides the unfortunate fight with a glass on wine the Laptop has done nicely :D

I manage to make my laptop working in linux semi-perfectly (the laptop is already crappy by the time I got my hands on it.. I mean.. a non-working Ethernet port.? come on!).
