83mercedes
Now, using Debian testing, with kernel 2.4.25-1-386, have installed gphoto, (and the front end gtkam). So I run gtkam and it will detect my camera, however there is an error: Could not initialize camera. If I try and use kde control center >peripherals >digital camera: Unable to initialize camera. Check your port settings and camera connectivity and try again. I have searched, and searched, and the best I can come up with is USB permissions, or needing SCSI emulation. I know this can work, because it works in Mandrake. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks. I should say that my USB printer/scanner and USB mouse work fine. SoulSe
If the camera is on USB, check under /dev for sd devices, like sda1 or sdb1 or something similar - this would be your camera as a USB Mass-storage device, which you can then mount and get your pictures off it that way. Of course, this would mean that you made it available in your kernel...
Gowator
As far as I know if it is USB mass storage its NOT supoprted by gphoto2 This is based on me looking over a year ago .... and looking for my nikon support under gphoto .... eventually I rtfm'd and read they didnt support usb mass storage (which seems fair enough since you dont need it and they are busy trying to help those who cant use their camera at all)
