Shorewall for a newbie

Hi, I'm a complete n00b to Linux security, so bear with me. I'm running 9.2 on an internal college network and in /var/log/messages I'm getting lots and lots of entries that look like:

Shorewall:net2all:DROP:IN=eth0 OUT=MAC= [snip] SRC= [snip] DST= [snip] LEN= [snip] TOS= [snip] PREC= [snip] TTL= [snip] ID= [snip] ICMP= [snip] TYPE= [snip] CODE= [snip] ID= [snip] SEQ= [snip]

What's going on? Is it a problem that I'm gettting all these messages (eg between 12.05 and 12.20 there were 25 such messages logged)? I've tried googling etc, but I can't find what I want to know...

Thanks!
