scoopy
I was trying to browse a CD (with Konq) that I know has 675 megs of zip files on it, but only 30 megs worth were showing up. and If I try to browse the CD through the desktop icons, I get this error message: Error - KIOExec Retrieving data from devices is not supported What's up with this ? I am not comprehending what may be going wrong here. Is it a package I failed to install or something new I must configure with MDK 10 CE ? tia
chris z
scoopy........... i found these references via a Google KIOexec Search . have a look at This One in particular & see if it makes sense. something about not being able to read certain characters (* wildcards). are there any files on the CD that use strange characters or wildcards in the file names? just a shot in the dark........ Chris Edited March 23, 2004 by chris z
Qchem
Did you write the data in more than one session, it could be that just the first session is mounted.
scoopy
sorry chris z, that made no sense to me. And the CDs I have been trying were all single session, dao. I was able to clear something up by using the "eject" feature and by reinserting the disk. This would allow me to see all the files on a disc. But more "weirdness" today. I copied a CD full of RPMs into my /home and the filenames changed from what was on the disc. For whatever reason, the names were truncated to 31 charactors or less. I tried it again and got the full filenames this time. Maybe I burned these with the Joliet and the Rock Ridge format. Maybe the disk from yesterday was only burnt using the Joliet format. Maybe this is the source of these problems... I don't remember. I need a format that works in all OS's and doesn't truncate the filenames. I am getting confused. thanks for the replies.
