dcook32p
Did you report the problems you encountered in the Mandrake bugzilla or verify existing reports?
aRTee
Well, yes, of course. I didn't have time to mention the double kernel entry, but the (more confusing and imho bigger) bug of the LAN card was reported by me quite some time ago, bug 8002; guess I will have to reopen to get them to fix it... Will do asap.
sitor
Nice, but then again, the people of this board don't expect any less from you. Thanks aRTee for all the effort you spend to help out all us newbies. This will come in handy when I have finally converted my brother. Ciao, Sitor
jeansagi
Hi aRTee, Thanks for the tutorial... very good indeed! But you state that you install "Mandrake Linux 10.0 Community Edition set." Where do you get it? I've searched mirrors but haven't found anything. Reviewing yout tutorial You just want to install 10 Comunity Edition
tyme
Regarding 10.0 availability, see the march 4th news item here: http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en-us/fnews.php3 You may also want to look at the Feb. 2nd Press Release regarding the change in the development process. TopDog
Great work aRTee Nice reading before my own install at easter... anyone tried 10CE with Nvidia Geforce and/or Nvidia Nforce2 ? I have this horrible combination on my Shuttle, and went through hell to get it working on 9.2. Anyone know if it's smoother now with the new kernel and all? neutro
So you had trouble bringing up your NIC under 10.0? Funny thing is, my NIC is the only thing which doesn't work under a newly compiled 2.6.3 kernel... In fact it doesn't seem to be the NIC: even the loopback interface cannot be brought up. I'd be interested to see what kind of errors you get at bootup in /var/log/messages concerning your network...
aRTee
I'm posting this from 10.0 CE, so my nic is not a problem. I got it via the clubmember torrrent that was seeded last Thursday, the public release should be the 12th, just be patient.
neutro
I was refering to this bit at the end: Addition: I just remembered I couldn't setup my network printers since the NIC would not go up, even after configuring it in the summary section. So the issue's gone now?
aRTee
Well, I had some problems with my printersetup. But my nic is fine, it went up at first boot and ever since, with the settings I gave it.
Sarissi
Nice one aRTee. Nice and clearly written.
judung
I've got 2 nics (forcedeth and r8169) on my nforce2 board. I can always bring up the first one (eth0) and the second one (eth1) just can't ping other machine (dest. unreachable). I'm running Mandrake 10.0 CE Enterprise. jeansagi
I got the 3 CDs of Mdk10CE, but when installing it ask for a fourth CD? In your article you also mention some a fourth CD... where do you get it? I suppose that fourht CD it's for club members, but there is any chance to download it from somewhere? Tnx. aRTee
It was necessary since the mirrors were not up yet, it contains a lot of things that are normally in the contrib repository. Nothing you cannot get in a normal way now that Mandrake 10.0 went public.
