Is there a version of the Linux partition manager that is self bootable. I really like that partition manager and was hoping I could get that all by its self so I dont need to install linux to use it. I figured for a programmer it would be easy to do because all the source is open.

Just boot off of CD1, and when you get to the partition screen, select custom partitioning. After doing your partition work, click done so the partition table is updated. Then on the next screen you can either format or not, up to you. When ready, you can quit the installer, reboot or whatever..
