zapx
Hi all Just installed my new linux box (still have an window$ Xp with dual boot, but hopefully it wont last long). Anyway, I'm using Mdk 9.2 & have an Audigy Platinum eX sound card with an external rack + an Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 with 5 speakers + subwoofer system. I'm using the digital in/out between the sound card and the Inspire 5.1 system. I get sound out on the external rack through headphone out, but nothing comes out on my 5.1 speaker system. I'm using snd-emu10k1 as the sound driver. I fiddled whith all the possible controls in alsa-mixer but to no event and am now at a complete loss Can't think of anything else to do to get it to work. Will it work ? Does anybody know if this type of configuration works ? Well i need your out there. Thanks

neutro
Well you said you fiddled with all mixers in alsamixer... Did you unmute the Analog/Digital Output Jack? It's the second-to-last one for my card (SB Live! 5.1). I had to turn it off since I don't have digital speakers and it only spitted static through the center speaker by default... I guess if your headphones work, that's a good start -- I mean, alsa works!
fissy
This isn't a problem with alsa so much, i think i had to mute digital out to get the same card working in XP for my little brother.
