knockout
Okay, I have a zipped file and I was able to unzip it to a directory. Now I ended up with a file which is executable but I know it doesn't run in Windows 'cause I tried it already. In windows it shows no file extension. Then in Mandrake I use a hex editor to open this file and it tells me this: $Info: This file is packed with the UPX executable packer /http://upx.sf.net $·$Id: UPX 1.24 Copyright © 1996-2002 the UPX Team. All Rights Reserved. $ So I went to the site mentioned above and was reading, I think this file has been encoded using this UPX thingy. My question is: Should I install this in my linux box in order to make this executable work? Or should I maybe install this in windows and run the executable, 'cause I think Windows is the one that uses .exe files, right? fuzzylizard
Any chance you could let us know what the file is? Your post is very vague in that it does not give any real details about what you are trying to do. What is the name of the file? What happens if you give the file executable rights and try to run the file? Is there no README or INSTALL file in the directory? Does the file have an .exe extension?
