/boot.. initrd kernel.h message System.map config

Recommended Posts

In my /boot directory, there are six symlinks. Config, initrd.img, kernel.h, message, System.map, and vmlinux.

What is config?

I think initrd is something loaded in the ramdisk: but what is it? And how can I modify it?

Kernel.h is a header file of some sort...

Message? It points to message-graphic: which is a binary file that isn't a Konqueror readable jpg or something.

What is System.map?

vmlinux is the kernel image, I believe

I'd really like your help, or a point to a refrence. I've already stfw many times, and can find nothing. Thanks!
