mwUser
Does anyone here know how to change the icon image of the "K" start button on the panel? For instance, Xandros has thier logo in place of the "K". I'm sure I'm not the only one here who would like to customize this. Anyone? gabbman
Using a file manager as 'SU' browse to /usr/share/icons You will find all the iconsets you have installed. In each set there are a number of sizes. Each size then has a folder with 'APPS' In the "APPS" folder you will find the K icon listed as kmenu.png The xandros icon is called go.png. You can either rename the go.png to kmenu.png, or do like I do just deleate the kmenu.png icon completely. The go.png will then default to the start. Note you need to do this in each 16-22-32-48-64 size app folder. Thats the hard GUI way, someone may know a CLI faster way to replace them. HTH, have fun. mystified
I took one from my icon theme and replaced the menuk-mdk.png. I replaced it for both the 32x32 and 48x48 sizes. I also went into the kde control panel and changed the blue color around the .png. The pngs are located in usr/share/icons/crystalsvg/48x48/apps and 32x32/apps. liquidzoo
You don't have to change the default icons if you don't want to. I wrote a short how-to on this very subject here
AussieJohn
LiquidZoo. Thanks for a great tip. I have entered it into my special "to do" files notebook. Cheers.

liquidzoo
In the panel preferences applet, turn off icon zooming.

liquidzoo
I think it's in the panel preferences dialog. There is a background color/image dialog there that needs to be updated. I use a transparent kicker, so it doesn't affect me. I'll see if I can get mysti to post exactly where it is. She's the one that found it initially.
