Guest x2x
How do I install a downloaded theme? Do I add the .tar.gz file, or is there a .theme file, or is there a file I don't know about that I have to install? Thanks for reading, please answer. liquidzoo
It all depends on the Desktop Environment you are using. Is it KDE or Gnome? Typically, you will download the theme (or style) and unzip it to a certain location (in Gnome, it's ~/.themes) Give us some more information to go by and we can help you out further. Guest x2x
I'm using Gnome. I went to Configuration -> Gnome -> Themes and it has an "Add theme" option there or something like that.
liquidzoo
That way does work, and yes you would just add the tar.gz file in that case. From there, you need to go into the theme details screen. You can select the different themes at that time. Be warned, however, that your new theme might not show up right away. You may have to restart X in order to have access to your new theme. Most of the time, you can get around this by unzipping the file in your ~/.themes folder (create it if it's not there, make sure you have the . in front of the folder name) and then going into your gnome-theme-properties (Configuration -> Gnome -> Themes or gnome-theme-properties in a console window) then into the Theme Details button and applying your new theme the normal way. Guest x2x
Hey, sorry I was gone so long. I was grounded, two F's in a row (one F that equaled a test in History and in English). It was this gay project, anyway back to the subject. The theme Aqualin, is in ~./themes. But it doesn't appear, even after restart.
