Mandriva 2010 - can't close a window

While trying to get a Logitech Quickcam to work in XawTV, I ended up with a window that XawTV opens up that I cannot close. I've tried using the "close" options in: XawTV window >Advanced>Special window settings & Special application settings options, and had no luck closing the window. Could someone please "bail me out"? The end goal here is to someday get video to work in Skype

Thanks for any help

Yes, that's true! Seems to be related to XawTV which doesn't work. I finally got rid of it by killing the kdeinit4 process and then rebooting. However re-running XawTV re-creates the problem!

I have not used XawTV. If your end goal is merely to use your webcam with Skype then maybe Skype can locate your webcam at /dev/video0

Suggest you confirm that your webcam is installed as a video device:

ls -ltr /dev/ | grep video

To test your webcam try:

mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/video0

or

mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:width=900:height=720:device=/dev/video0

Thanks for the response & tips boatman9. The camera is recognized as it works with both cheese & ekiga, I never realized it could be recognized with mplayer, thanks for that info.
