Kieth
I tried to install an ethernet card, "Typhoon Speednet High Speed PCI Card", but have only had problems. After installing it, and re-booting, my screen would go blank when I should be seeing the pretty blue screen and all the icons. I thought I would first dis-able plug and play, but I do not know how. I went into Bios, (Windsows 98), but there is not an option, "Plug and Play - enable/disable". java script:emoticon('B)') How do I disable it? Thanks, Kieth
iNFERiON
Your BIOS (which has nothing to do with Windows 98, but with your PC's mainboard) should have an option 'Plug n Play OS - Yes/No' If you set that to no, it should be OK. Note that you can enter your BIOS by (usually) pressing the DEL button almost instantly at startup, so it's not the Win98 Control Panel and has nothing to do with Win98, just to make things clear. Kieth
Thanks for the reply. Only thing is, there is not a Plug n' Play OS option. In BIOS I cannot find anything resembling Plug n' Play. In another option, "PNP/PCI Configuration", there are various choices. PNP OS installed: Yes / No Resources Controlled by: Auto / Manuel Reset configuration data: Enabled / Disabled IRQ-3 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA IRQ-4 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA IRQ-5 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA IRQ-7 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA IRQ-9 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA IRQ-10 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA IRQ-11 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA IRQ-12 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA IRQ.14 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA IRQ.15 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA DMA-0 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA DMA-1 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA DMA-3 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA DMA-5 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA DMA-6 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA DMA-7 assigned to: PCI/ISA PnP / Legacy ISA CPU to PCI Write Buffer: Enabled / Disabled PCI Dynamic Bursting: Enabled / Disabled PCI Master 0 WS Write: Enabled / Disabled PCI Delay Transaction: Enabled / Disabled PCI#2 Access #1 Retry: Enabled / Disabled AGP Master 1 WS Write: Enabled / Disabled AGP Master 1 WS Read: Enabled / Disabled Assign IRQ for USB: Enabled / Disabled Assigni IRQ for VGA: Enabled / Disabled Other than one of the above, I do not know what to choose. If needed, I can show the choices in my BIOS. Thanks, Kieth
