Hi, I have read almost all of the related posts on the Huawei EC168 USB modem, and google'd my back-side off trying to find an answer...

In Windows (I hate Microsoft BTW) the card needs no password, or user name... from what I have gathered on the net, in Linux (since I cannot get the dialer to dial without it) I guess I need to enter my ph# + @alltel.net. Is this right? and the password is alltel?

what happens to these now that alltel is Verizon? ph# + @VZW.net? password????

I guess I need to know if the username and password are really essential, because windows doesn't seem to need it and I'm using it right now...

If this is not the problem, why can I not get a connection to stick in Mandriva 2010.0???

Any insite, link, or tool would be quite helpful... seeing as I'm about to dump windows altogether!!!

Thanks

The solution to my problem was that the gateway from the USB modem wasn't in the routing table...

route add default gw xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

as Super-User of course!
