snowdrift
I keep getting the following error: unable to take medium "main" into account as no list file [/var/lib/urpmi/list.main] exists When I try to update the sources for main, contrib occurs the same way and so does updates. I get errors similar tot he one above, about how the file does not exist or could not be updated. I am in as root. Any ideas?
bvc
do they exist? If so have you rebuilt the database? How? http://www.mandrakeusers.org/index.php?showforum=29 search here for rpm -how to rebuild database (or the like)
bvc
nevermind...it's gone. as root do; rm -f /var/lib/rpm/ _db* && rpm --rebuilddb if that fails remove the failing sources and re-add them.

snowdrift
With the help yesterday from Michel I did in fact do a rpm --rebuilddb and then using the -hf switch got the sources added and the lists created. Good call and thanks again to M for all the help. SD

sglafata
I was having problems after I downloaded the update for rpmdrake. What I did was follow the paths in a browser and found that the path in rpmdrake was incorrect and I manually edited the sources to the correct location of the hdlists. I also had set up shorewall and had to open port 21 for rpmdrake to connect to the FTP sites to download the updates.
Cannonfodder
Did you introduce the path error when you copied the path from your browser? A space perhaps?
