If you're looking for a GameBoy frontend there's:
vbam - A GameBoy Advance emulator VisualBoyAdvance-M is a GameBoy Advance emulator. It is based on VisualBoyAdvance and integrates the best features from the various other forks.
If you have your plf repositories added you can install from the Mandriva Control Center (mcc) or via the konsole as root with:
urpmi vbam

Unraid is a good alternative nas. The really nice thing about it is you don't need matching drives in order to use it.

Have you checked the window manager settings in System Settings--> Default Applications--> Window Manager?Compiz crashes with a kde4-window-decorator fault at login.Aha, I've found it. It's in System Settings--> Desktop--> All Effects--> Track Mouse.
-
-
You'll find it in Compiz Config Settings Manager (ccsm) under Accessibility--> Show Mouse.
-
It's to help you locate where your mouse pointer is. Some desktop wallpapers or themes can camouflage the pointer. This behaviour can be disabled.

I really should read posts more thoroughly, thanks Ken :)Read the origanal post.

Does anyone know where I can find the Virtualbox image of RC2?

I've always looked forward to what changes KDE4 was going to bring over KDE3. I still remember when it was very buggy and attracted a lot of criticism. As time rolled on and stability became the norm, a lot of those critical voices have died down, if not disappeared all together. I agree about not moving things about so often and that settings should be kept in a central place. You shouldn't have to hunt around to make simple changes. What would be nice is the ability to assign your own preferred options to the desktop right click menu. I still have KDE3 on 1 desktop and 1 laptop, using that desktop is now like going back to Winblows 3.1 :D

You can check the level in MCC (Configure Your Computer)--> Security--> Configure system security, permissions and audit.I don't know what the security level is, although I would suspect that it is standard since I do not remember doing anything special when I installed it. I installed from the Mandriva One CD and then added the apps from the repository. I don't know how to check what the level is

My advice is to backup your data. Anything can go wrong at anytime (not just with updates) hardware failure, power outage etc. If this data is of real importance you should back it up!.Preparing to perform updates on mdv2008.1 and want to make sure that a full update won't cause problems as this PC is loaded with my data.

You can install new themes in: System Settings--> Advanced--> Desktop Theme Details or by: Right clicking the desktop and select Folder View Settings. You also select and apply the theme(s) from the same locations. If you are asking how to add new themes downloaded from KDE-Look.org then I don't know I haven't tried that yet.How do I install a new theme and select it?
I didn't know Amarok 2 was themeable yet.How do I install a theme for Amarok?
This can be done here: System Settings--> Advanced--> Desktop Theme Details. You can change individual items there. How do I change the look of the Taskbar (ie: remove candy stripe background)? -
One word comes to mind... "WOW" :)

Here's something you budding photographers might find interesting reading:
-
What have you tried to get it going? Â A bit more info would ensure folks don't post suggestions you've already tried.

Press Alt+Ctrl+F1 log in as root now type: drak3d and press enter, press enter again on the default selection, type exit to leave root mode. The 3d desktop is now disabled. Press Alt+F7 to bring back the login screen. Log in as normal and let us know how you get on.that isn't a session option. any other ideas?
Edit: I've just realised I answered a 2007 post :D

Thanks for this Greg2. I got it to work using the gui before seeing your reply. This is the same problem with missing signatures on some mirrors that we had with KDE4.3.0. Simply use the
--no-verify-rpm
option with urpmi.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I started from scratch using
urpmi --clean
then
urpmi.update -a --force-key
still no joy.

Thanks for that pindakoe. I never thought to click the binoculars! It is still possible to search the descriptions of packages, but it is well hidden (which is also a bug). By default rpmdrake will only search the name. Click on the magnifying glass (see attached picture) and you can choose between names, descriptions, summaries and file-names.

Â
This is a beta release. Â Have you relayed your findings to Mandriva? Â Don't forget to include your machine specs. Some Bugs
*my installer freezes when I click test button on graphic hardware settings
*my installer freezes when I click reboot button in the end
*when I use compiz it my window decoration disappear
*something is wrong in KDE 4.3, when I hover an icon on desktop it automatically show previews in spite of I closed show previews option in desktop settings but I know it isn't about Mandriva, it is about KDE because I got same problem on another KDE 4.3 distribution

There's also a .rpm install here: Root Actions Service Menu that will add right-click Root Actions to the service menus of Dolphin and Konqueror.
Edit: Root Actions Service Menu is also available in the Contrib Backports.

Wow, that's some guide! Thanks for posting the link DavidI don't know if this will help or not, but this excellent guide solved some problems I was having with videos re: pulseaudio, flash, and wmv, on F11. [i am currently using both Mandriva 2009.1 KDE PWP and Fedora 11 Gnome.]

True, but they won't support us if we don't have the userbase. Seriously, it's mostly games that keeps winblows popular for the average home user. Once they grow out of that phase and want to do more than shoot at pixels, they soon get fed up with having to defend against the myriad of viruses, spyware etc in order to get some work done. There was a time when GNU/Linux was only mentioned by those who used it.Would love to agree, but I don't. As much as I support Linux, I feel that we have to be pragmatic about this. Unless hardware support from key manufacturers and software support from key commercial software developers improves vastly beyond the token gestures we currently see, the threat will always be minimal. -
"Microsoft fears Linux" and so they should. The fact is GNU/Linux has come a very long way in the ease of use department. I hope they also continue to make huge mistakes like 'Vista' that debacle motivated a lot of users to seek out alternatives to Winblows. And there's nothing like the truth being set free to piss people off...
